Athletes and Steroids

One thing that doesn't make sense to me is kids using steroids to improve at sports. As an athlete, I know what it's like to have daily practices and long, tough work outs. But, taking steroids to get stronger in the hope of a future in professional sports or just to be the best on the team is something kids will regret. When their pumped up muscles turn to flab once they stop using or stop exercising, or when their bodies begin to feel other side effects from steroids, they will know that the temporary strength they gained wasn't worth it.

If I can excel at sports through hard work, determination, and building my own strength, so can anyone else.

Will Smith, 15-year-old

Note: Access the National Institute on Drug Abuse specialized web site, www.steroidabuse.org, for more information on the risks associated with steroid use.
