Abstinence Education Initiative

Technical Assistance Contract – Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

In September 2002, IYD was awarded a technical assistance contract by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau to serve Title V State Section 510 and SPRANS Community-Based Abstinence Education grantees. The Medical Institute for Sexual Health and the National Abstinence Clearinghouse are collaborative partners within the contract. Each organization is tasked with specific responsibilities related to their area of abstinence education expertise.

IYD has the responsibility of providing technical assistance to program grantees through personal consultation, phone and e-mail communications, as well as one-day technical assistance workshops. A summary of the 2004 Technical Assistance Workshops, including locations, agendas, and power point presentations (where applicable) is available below.

Planning for the 2005 technical assistance workshops is currently underway. Please consult this website for forthcoming meeting details and registration information.

*** SPRANS Community-Based Abstinence Education and Title V State Section 510 Abstinence Education programs have recently transferred from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, and have been reassigned to the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Family and Youth Services Bureau.
